CEREC 3D

CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetical Ceramics) 3D is a revolutionary set of computerised machinery that makes restoration of damaged teeth accurate, quick and efficient. Normally, replacement of crowns, veneers or fillings takes up to two weeks to complete. However, CEREC has made it possible for dentists to examine the patient, design and make the needed object and fit it into the patient’s mouth in one single procedure. The dentist will first take a digital impression of the problematic tooth and design the wanted replacement, which will be sent to a complex technological unit which will fabricate the replacement tooth from quality ceramics, which can be chosen to match the shade of the patient’s teeth.

CEREC 3D provides the dentist with more control, since the final result does not depend on lab technicians. Moreover, the patient has the chance to spend less time in the dentist’s chair, achieve wanted results in one visit and avoid unnecessary anaesthetic injections. The patient can also forget unreliable and fragile temporary crowns that will not be needed using CEREC.

It is understandable that many would expect this treatment to be more expensive than conventional methods. However, the difference is barely noticeable, since the short duration of the procedure, no lab costs and the efficiency of the machinery makes up for the modernity of the technology. The price of crowns designed using CEREC ranges between £380 and £700 per tooth. Moreover, many clinics offer flexible payment conditions, which make the treatment affordable regardless of the patient’s income.
