How many teeth can a dental implant support?

Normally, dental implants are used as a foundation for replacement of one or two teeth. However, dental implants can also support a larger number of teeth. If a full set of upper or lower teeth is needed, the procedure is referred to as mouth reconstruction and will usually require 5 or 6 implants to be fitted. In some cases, so-called mini implants can be used in order to secure the dentures. Such complex procedures depend more on individual circumstances. If a big amount of teeth is missing, the dentist will have to assess the patient more thoroughly by carefully examining the jawbone and oral cavity of the patient. After the examination, the doctor should be able to provide the patient with the best plan for treatment and recovery.
