Inman Aligners

Inman aligners are a type of orthodontic method to straighten crooked teeth or reduce gaps by gradually moving problematic teeth into the desired position. Inman aligners are often compared to Invisalign braces. However, even though Inman aligners have a noticeable metal wire on the front of the teeth, they are generally much cheaper and achieve significant results in a shorter period of time. Moreover, unlike the Invisalign system, only one positioner is required for the full duration of the treatment.

Inman aligners are removable and preferably should be worn no less than 20 hours a day. The Inman aligner construction is based on two parts: a metal bar on the front of the teeth applies pressure in one direction and a spring attached to the back of the teeth pushes them in the other direction.

Since the Inman aligner system targets only the visible teeth in the front of the mouth, the duration of the full treatment with Inman aligners is surprisingly short. Visible results can be expected in 6-16 weeks after the initial procedure. Like with other aligners, the results are highly dependant on the patient’s discipline. The longer the aligner is worn every day, the quicker and better the results will be.

Common side effects after the initial procedure include excess production of saliva, slight lisping and discomfort while the patients get used to the new construction in their mouth. However, these symptoms should disappear in a few days.
